Dear Friends,

This is a guide of suggestions we hope can make your wedding a little more personal and memorable.
Some might work for you, and the others might not.
And it’s okay.
Feel free to adopt what works for you.
After all, it’s your wedding.
Your story to tell.

  1. Celebrate it your way

This is the day where y0u’re granted the cloak of immunity - so go forth and let your oddities and personalities shine.

Don’t squander it on traditions, social expectations and “he said, she said”

If it helps, ask yourself these questions - if you’ve only one day left in this world:

Who will you spend it with?

( your family? your childhood friends? your dog? )

How will you spend it?

( a quiet dinner? campfire bbq? dancing and singing? a pool party? )

What really matters?

( honouring your loved ones? everyone having fun together? )

Do what you feel is right by you. After all, when is the next time you will have all your loved ones gathered in the same space?

2. Write your Vows

You’ll never regret it.

And you don’t have to be a great writer to write one. What matters most is that it comes from you.

I agree it won’t be easy letting your walls down and being completely transparent with your emotions.

But that’s exactly what makes it so important - like your relationship, it takes honesty and effort.

Furthermore, it’s your story, your vows and your future - and no one can write it better than you.

3. Unplugged Ceremony

As a photographer. documenting a wedding isn’t too different from playing a game of chess.

We spend most of our time identifying possible problems and formulating a strategy to overcome any upcoming obstacle.

And the toughest battles are often fought in the “red sea” - the aisle.

It’s a battle we often end up losing, simply because we are severely outnumbered.

There are a few things that you can do to prompt your guest to put away their electronic devices. You could either have your emcees kindly remind your guest to put away their electronic devices during the ceremony. or you could make your wooden signages with a note saying “Welcome to our unplunged ceremony. We’re eternally grateful you can be here today to share this important day with us. The greatest gift you can give us today is to be truly present, so please turn off all phones and cameras and enjoy this special moment with us. Thank you!”

4. Take it slow

By now, you have probably spent months making the stars align.

Now it’s time to sit back and enjoy the day.

At the end of the day all it takes is the two of you, an officiant, and a two witnesses. After that, it is whatever makes you happy.

so if you really want to stop and drink a cup of cold fizzy coke, do it.

No one is going to stop you.

5. Not all will go as planned.

And it’s really okay.

So don’t worry about the weather, or if you might miss a line in your vow.

Just sit back, relax, and get married.

Everything else will work out the way it’s meant to.
